Can I take them back?

On 13.12.12 I went to a local Baby shop with some vouchers for cloth nappies..I was shown a website of them and this had the prices on (£12.?? and £13.??) I purchased 4 nappies and a wetbag for them at these prices..I was told 3-5 days for delivery as they order them in from said website.
I rang quite a few times after then and was fobbed off as to the whereabouts of the nappies.
Eventually they arrived yesterday..so I went to collect them.
Come home and discover the nappies are now on a huge sale for only £5.?? each..so I have paid £67 for £29 worth of goods..I think they knew the sale was happening (its due to them no longer selling straight to the public so shops will know about it) thus the reason they failed to order and get me the nappies for over 5 weeks..
I am wanting to ring them today and ask to take them all back and then re-spend my vouchers either on the £5 nappies or a different brand-can I do this or am I out by £40?

You have no statutory right to take them back because the price has dropped. You could ask the retailer for goodwill.0

So if you went into Asda yestday and purchased a tin of bean at 99p and today you saw they had the same beans at 67p would you take them back.
this happens every day sales and price changes0 -
Its more the fact their 3-5 days turned into 5 weeks and 1 day, thus leading me to believe that they delayed placing my order so that they would pay way less than 60% of what they charged me-after telling me they only charge the website price as they are a stockist so get a % of that..No, I wouldnt do it for pennies, however £40, yes..I would do it if possible, I would be stupid and not very MSE to not even try!She has the loaded handbag of someone who camps out and seldom goes home, or who imagines life must be full of emergencies..0

Sounds like a bit of a crap situation if you ask me

You could ask for a refund due to them taking 5 weeks to deliver, which has breached their promise of 3 to 5 days?
(then re-buy them at £5 each!)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Think that would have worked had op sought to cancel within the 5 weeks but not now the goods have been collected by op0

If the online shop is no longer selling direct to the public there is no guarantee the retailer will be lowering their prices. Taking them back may just mean the OP gets a refund and then has to find the goods at the lower prices to actually get anything back here (which may not be possible since the lower prices were for retailers only).
I think we'd all be pretty miffed if we knew how much retailers actually paid for stuff!Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

true as a retailer i know what i pay and what i need to charge to make a profit. But when i go to a wholsaler or a wholesalers site i always look at the item as a consumer and work out a retail price from the price i pay and say to myself would i pay that for the item and if i wont then my customers wont.
I have even stopped selling some line that sell good due to price increases ( i sell toys)
1 item i was selling in 2011 i was paying 33p for, but in 2012 this was costing me 75p. this was a good selling line, so i got a box of 24 at the beginning of 2012 and i still have 12 of these left from the original 24 while in 2011 i would go through 8+ boxes. so wont get these for 20130
