Without a letter from the other bank how can my bank see any difference between Case 1 and Case 2?
They can't. However, most banks will not charge when the customer states that the cheque has been lost.
It could have been lost by any party - it doesn't matter. But lost cheque = no charge to cancel.0 -

no, there are many reasons why it's a good idea (and good management of funds) to pay cheques in quickly, but I'm sure your way is best for you....The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
