Returns dilemma

Hi, just after some advice please.
I sell baby clothes as an Ebay business.
A buyer has just contacted me to say that she has washed and worn an item that was bought on 12th December and although it fitted when it first arrived it no longer fits and she suspects it has shrunk.
Now I normally have no issues with refunding but due to the amount of time that has elapsed I am a little reluctant in this case.
The clothing I sell are high end and I would not expect them to shrink.
Any advice please? Should I refund - as these have been used it is a dead loss to me.

Sounds like its gone in the boil wash!
Personally.. she has admitted that it did fit, she has now washed it, probably on the wrong setting and now it doesnt!
Not even sure how could raise a dispute as it would appear all fine and its only since its been worn and washed that it now doesnt.
Its not like you can now resell it, how would it stand if you could get it back and take it back to YOUR supplier and try and get a refund from them?
If it was me I would be inclined to tell them to do one! but ebay are very buyer sided now so that aint so easy!
Has she left feedback? If so its not like she can hold that over you now either...0 -
Do you want her / her friends as a future customer?
You have no legal or moral obligation to refund (as far as I am aware). But as a gesture of goodwill you might want to do it to keep your customers happy.0 -
Yes positive feedback was left in December.
I think she is out of time for an Ebay case but has a few more days to raise a Paypal case.
I can't return the item now myself - to be honest I am inclined to say no as I suspect it might just be a case of baby growing! I remember my kids hardly wore some of their clothes in the first months!0 -
It's only been 41 days, so she still has 4 more days to raise an Ebay claim...
You could ask if she followed the correct washing instructions?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
She has washed it wrong by not reading the instructions. I say tough, regardless if she is likely to be a future customer, and as a future customer she is likely to do it again and again........how far do you let it go?
And as you say, kids growing and all that. That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -

Thanks - I did ask her how she had washed the item.
She has just responded 'your after sales care leaves a lot to be desired! Lucky I have not yet completed the feed back!'
Would you refund her? I am an honest seller with 100% record, and I want to do the right thing.
Would a shop refund after 40 days in this situation?

Has the buyer left feedback already?0

The buyer has left feedback, I don't know if this can be revised.
I would have definitely refunded her within what I consider a reasonable time limit, 30 days or less...
Sometimes clothing is a real pain to sell!0 -
