Nectar on eBay vs Nectar eShops

I have just discovered that Nectar is now integrated with eBay so that you can register your card and automatically collect points when you buy on eBay.
In the past I've used Nectar eShops to collect points (although I used Quidco when I could for the better rate, but that's no longer an option).
At the moment, eShops are offering 2 points per £1, whereas the rate if you register your card is 1 point per £1. If you register your Nectar card, does that make you ineligible to use eShops? Or is it even possible to collect both, meaning 3 points during the promotion (or 2 when no promotion)?
I can't find any mention of these dual ways to collect points anywhere, and as they take so long to come through it's hard to test. Anyone have any idea whether it works?
