Has anyone done escort cards instead of a table plan?

Options
Everyone has a card with their name on that also indicates which table they'll be sitting at.

The cards can be laid out on a table

Or hung up with ribbon

Or encorporated with the favours

I really like these ideas (especially the hanging ones!) but I must admit I had no clue what it was until I discovered it recently.

Would people be confused by it? Is it too American?

Thoughts please! xx

Ah yes like Monica and Chandler's wedding in Friends :rotfl:

I think it is a nice idea, I am sticking with a traditional table plan but I see no reason why this couldn't work well :)

I think it can happen that way.

I am planning to have place cards though as we are going to want every one to take their seats quickly.

There is a comical moment because Ross swaps his card with someone else's or something to try and sit next to a pretty girl, but got confused and ended up sitting on the kids' table...

Errr I have watched too much Friends as a youngster I am afraid!

Clearly I have too - as I remember it was table 6 and table 9 that got mixed up! If I were having a sit-down meal I think I'd do that - looks like a great idea :T
  • my friend did this for her wedding in july and it worked well. In fact it was better than table plan in some ways as it meant the cards were on a board in alphabetical order so it was easy for guests to find their own name - then the table number/name was written on the card and when we got to the tables there were place cards there so we didn't just sit anywhere. She attached a little keepsake to the cards too instead of having favours on the table.. definitely a good idea imo x

  • My friend also did this and it didn't appear confusing for anyone at all. I'm sticking with a table plan personally, but it def worked well.
