Not wrong at all - more like a lazy agent. They are not doing thier job.

Nothing wrong with pushing for the best possible price for the vendor, certainly until the buyer has started to incur costs.

Yes, there is something wrong with saying to a buyer, "Yes, I will accept your offer" then rejecting it a week later because another has decided to up the ante, regardless of whether or not costs have been incurred.

It's certainly seen as morally wrong North of the Border. If an offer is accepted, then no other offer will be made or accepted unless negotiations break down on the first.
  • Nah this happened to us LOADS of times. We were looking in a sought after area for below 3% stamp duty threshold... and so was everyone else in the entire county so it seemed!

In the end we had to check rightmove about 5 times a day (and vebra.. and all the estate agents websites themselves as they sometimes go on their a day quicker than rightmove!) As soon as one came up that met our requirements we rang that day for a viewing... usually alongside a load of other viewers!!

We got one in the end just by sheer speed and determination.. it went up (on the EA website, not rightmove) weds evening.. rang thurs morning... viewed thurs evening... offered friday.. nailbiting wait over the weekend whilst loads of other viewers viewed... accepted monday! You wouldnt believe we were just edging in and out of recession!
Trying to think of a clever witticism, but cant, so... *insert clever witticism here*
