Cracked Jointing Between PAving Slabs

Hi

I really hope someone can help! We recently had paving added to our back garden but we've noticed that the mortar (cement) between the slabs has already started to crack and brak off in chunks and needs to be re-pointed. Our builder is coming next weekend to do it but I think he's going to try using the same mortar mix which i don't think will solve the problem.
Could anyone recommend something that could be used to stop the cracking. I read somewhere that adding a 'plasticizer' to the mortar mix usually helps or a product called Romex?

Any ideas?

It depends on the foundation on which the slabs are laid. It it is not solid enough then there may be differential movement between the slabs and I am afraid nothing will stop cracks reappearing. If it is solid then maybe the mortar mix is wrong but I am afraid I don't know what is should be. There is a website https://www.pavingexpert.com which might help.
