My Car has really bad wind
I presume its the Cat, thats causing it, but every morning coming off the M1
and cruising up the slip road, The car gives off a terrible guff and it stinks really rank. Anything I can do to stop it?, Can i ditch the cat and get a straight through exhaust and just switch vefore the MOT?

If you get caught running the car without a CAT then you can get into very serious trouble, also the car will be a bit noisier without the CAT so you'll be swapping smell for noise.
Maybe worth trying Salvage or Scrap yards to get A 2nd hand CAT
Alternatively might be worth trying a different fuel0 -
why dont you take the CAT to the vets to see if he can give some medication!!!!!!!!
sorry, couldnt help myself0 -
Could be aircon, assuming you have it!!There are two sides to every story.

What makes you think its the cat? There's all sorts of reasons cars can stink. Also the engine management would probably screw up if you removed the cat.
What car do you have? We have a Mondeo (95K miles) and there have been two different faults that have caused ghastly choking smells.
1) Heater fan has ballast resistors in the circuit. If the fan motor gets a bit stiff the resistors can overheat and burn the surrounding plastic casing. Truly awful whiff.
2) Air conditioning pump siezed up. The pump is driven via its own clutch which then slipped when the air conditioning tried to cut in. The smell from this was also diabolical.
There are many other reasons. Binding brakes, leaking fuel, leaking air con fluid, leaking exhaust, etc etc. Best get it checked, especially if the fumes pose any health risk. If exhaust fumes are getting into the car they could seriously affect your driving, even lead to an accident.Favours are returned ... Trust is earned

Ok To answer some of the points:
Air con was recharged at last service and anti- bacteria stuff put in January.
So I dont think its that.
To describe the smell, its not like burnt clutch, leaking fuel or cooked brakes, its more of a Sulpherous type eggy smell, like a really bad fart.
And I have had it on a couple of previous cars including new hire cars, that when exiting a motorway and cruising to the junction the car lets one off.
Its not that much of an issue as I have now found the car I want, Ugly as hell, But anything that the Italians call "Il Monstro" has my name on it.0 -
There is a website i found on google some time ago new cats are about £100, if your going to wait for it to fail a mot before you replace it expect to pay a lot more for the garage to fit it.
id take it to a garage and ask them to test the emitions and advise what they think the problem is, if your lucky they will say its the cat it will cost XYZ you can them just order the part yourself. If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
