For those with houses with no garage - where do you keep ladders?!

I'm in the process of selling my house and buying in another area. The last three houses we've lived in have had a garage- and we never used it for a car. I recently filled a skip with stuff from the garage. We also have a garden shed and two plastic storage mini-sheds. A garage is still an essential requirement for me-I'll still need somewhere for the ladder, bikes, lawnmower, tools, paints etc. Oh, and a car might be nice! If no garage, then a back garden big enough for a very large shed.0

Just to add to my post I've viewed two houses with double garages and these have stood out from the others. I'm sure people would be surprised that a woman of my age would take such an interest in garages! I also have to admit that I have a lot things I want to take with me and the space would be very useful.0

we have an alleyway and they are bracketed to the ceiling out of the elements. We have a loft ladder that pulls down from the loft and also a folding one now that lives in shed. A two step that folds up between cupboards in utility. didnt realise we had so many!0

I have an aluminium ladder that's lived outside (padlocked) for the last 8 years through some of the worst winters we've had in Scotland for a long time with no ill effect. It'll be buried in the snow at the moment.0

Our's is chained to a tree at the bottom of the garden. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

I also have an aluminium ladder that has lived outside down an unused piece of land the side of my house for the past seven years in all weathers. It will be under snow at the moment. Normally it is under nettles

It isn't paddlocked, but I live in a bungalow so if anyone was going to burgle me, they wouldn't need to use the ladder anyway .
Actually, the only person who ever uses it is my next-door neighbour. I probably wouldn't even notice if it went missing!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Mine is in the bedroom tucked down the side of the wardrobe. No garage or shed. Mainly use it to get up into the loft.0

I kept an aluminium ladder outside chained to a fence for about 15 years with no problems, except someone reported me to the RSPCL.
After my ladder awareness course, I tried to treat mine with a little more kindness, so like Daisy, I moved to a bungalow and put it in a barn with some hay. It still just mopes about.
Frankly, I don't think it's that bothered where it is.
