Delivery Failure

Hi

I purchased a new TV from Amazon last Friday and paid extra for it to be delivered today. I have taken a day off work and it still hasn't arrived. Being self employed I have lost money waiting in for the delivery. I have now got off the phone and they said they didn't get round to it and it will be delivered tomorrow.
This will cost me even more money now for another day off.
There is no one I can get to take the delivery, I didn't mind taking one day off, but to have to take another day is not on.
Do I have any rights to claim the money I have lost from not being able to work.

Thanks

Buzz

If I were you, I would start by reading MSE's Failed Delivery article.

Do come back if you have further questions.

The problem is, that since last Thursday the country has practically been at a standstill, due to the weather! most of the motorways have had problems and have been shut down for hours on stretches, if a driver is in one of these shut downs, he can still only drive for his hours, that are allotted on his tachograph, so he will have to finish for the day, if his hours are up. Trains have been at a standstill, due to snow, and even planes haven't been able to fly. I can honestly say that l wouldn't have been at all surprised if it hadn't turned up.

In fact I would have been SHOCKED if it had turned up. When it comes to Mother Nature there is not much you can do about it.

Amazon are excellent at refunding, your only action can be sending them an email explaining that you didn't receive the goods, they will refund your postage, but they will be covered because of inclement weather, if you are trying for compensation.

The country has not been at a standstill. The vast majority of people have got to work as normal.

In any case, if Amazon were unable to deliver today, they should have contacted the OP to let them know.

Everyone seems to be blaming the weather. But the depot for citylink is only 15 miles from my house and its been there since Sunday. The roads from Southampton to my house are perfectly drivable.

Do you work Saturdays? I'd phone Amazon and insist that the delivery is made on Saturday instead, given you spent all day waiting.

Most side roads were still icy/snowy, so it probably took them longer to get through their delivery route.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I suspect it will have been sent by Yodel, not citylink, thus adding several days and many non-deliveries to the expected date.

I very much doubt it. :)

I'd also imagine that whatever delivery service being used will employ some form of disclaimer absolving them of any responsibility for late deliveries in the event of severe weather, invasion, civil uprising and so on. :)

    Update

I spoke to City Link and Amazon yesterday evening and was told they were sorry for the delay and I was promised that the delivery would arrive today (22nd).
I have taken another day off work as I couldn't get anyone to take the delivery and again it has not turned up. I have spoke to City Link they're not sure where it is so can't give me a delivery date.
I have now lost 2 days work. I have also spoke to Amazon about compensation as City Link told me that Amazon are liable. They basically said tough. All though they have told me they will speak to City Link and phone me back, they have not as yet.
