I'm a lone parent of 2 children, one 4 and one 2 and I get income support, child tax and the usual lone parent benefits. Unfortunately one of my children was diagnosed with severe disabilities and I am now her full time carer. She is now getting DLA and I get carers allowance for her.
Since all this has happened her father and I have been getting along great and it's really brought us much closer together, he helps out and takes the kids when he can etc and I was wondering what would happen to me if I were to move back in with him ? I assume I would lose my benefits ? Could I get income support based on the fact that I'm a carer ? He earns around 900-1000 per month. It's something I would like to do but obviously my main concern is keeping a roof over my children's head and food in the cupboards. If anyone could tell me what we would be entitled to if we became a couple? Thanks for any advice

Why the :-( ? It sounds like good news to me!
You would no longer be entitled to IS, but you may be able to claim Working Tax Credits. You would still be able to claim CA.0 -
Congratulations on your newly developing relationship with your child's father!
Re income/benefits - you would be assessed as a family, so you would lose income support as he is working. But you may gain other benefits. I suggest that you go to the turn2us website and put in the details that would be correct if you were living with him.

Good luck
