Have you seen how much space a 21" CRT will take up on the desk.
And they also weigh a ton.

    Thats why they are cheap.

they are cheap as they are refurbished, a 19" crt monitor will cost you £131.00 on ebuyer.
that's why I thought they where a bargain, also because I am knocking up a couple of pc's for my son's mate's using spare part's that I have left over from making other pc's for friend's and family, and needed a monitor so the 15" one for £15 wasn't bad considering I am not actually getting paid for this, although they are doing some work on my house for me, so this is away of me saying thankyou, as they both have there own companies now, just starting out, so I thought a good pc would be just what they could do with, but as cheaply as I can do it, so that I am not really out of pocket, as they wont except any form of payment for the work, as this is there second home, (sort of) so this is just away for me to say cheer's lad's. and they have a pc each to do there profit and loss on, so to speak.
they are ideal for people who do want to spend a great deal on a crt monitor.

One word of advice for anyone thinking of getting one, make sure your desk is beefy enough for it - I believe my old Sony 21" weighed in at something like 30kg:)

To chip in, 21" CRT monitors are not realistic for most home users. The depth of the screen (due to being a CRT-Cathode Ray Tube) means they are likely more than 21" deep.
SO, if you place this on your desk you'll most likely have the screen itself almost touching your nose!

At work we've just replaced our old 21" screens in the design dept and nobody wants the old ones to take home!

When a new 19" LCD is just over £100 too...

As somebody said, they're that cheap as nobody wants them!

I don't want one either, but they could maybe be used as a CCTV monitor with the right adapter to input the video from a control unit or even in a kids room for use with a Playstation or Xbox 1 or 360 via the VGA connection as it'd produce a much better picture than a standard tv via phono or scart, assuming they have room for such a large monitor that is.

Actually I don't think the 21" ones are refurbished, it says they're second hand and uncleaned, all it says is that they have been tested (presumably to make sure that they still work)
Thanks to all who post constructively.

Which is better than them being refurbished, how?

Junk to be honest. If you go round a few business complexes you'll probably find stacks of these that have been thrown out and abandoned for nothing. I know I couldn't give our old 19" CRT's away.

My old 21" Sun CRT weighed in around 35kg and went with such a crash when I dropped it when moving. Best thing that ever happened to it to be honest.
