We buy Daylesford Organics and Gail's bread from Ocado, Long Crichel Bakery from Abel & Cole and Flour Power City Bakery from Riverford. Think all of them have their own websites

Yep, they are good. I know Rob from another forum and I've had a few things off him. If you order on a Monday, you'll get a free item.

I don't eat meat, I would be ordering for OH.

But what is £46 like for 5kg of rare breed meat?

How long do you think it would last for one person? I know he used to get 3 for £10 at Tesco but don't know what size the packs were.

I really want to buy some but obviously need to work out finances first :)

I take it you're looking at the All Week beef box? I haven't tried that one yet. It looks like there are a mixture of cuts, so I guess it depends on the portion size your husband has. You can email Rob and ask him what sort of cuts and weights they are.

It is going to be more expensive than supermarket meat as it's slower growing with the cows being grass fed, but hubby said the meat is fantastic (I don't eat meat either!).

We went to visit the premises today. Seemed ok, all were indoors at the moment due to poor grass and flooding which was a bit disappointing but it was nice to see a variety of different breeds.

Felt bad for them knowing their fate :p

Saw the pigs too, which were kept in somewhat small enclosures but it was muddy so they could forage around still, better than concrete I suppose.

Glad that we got to see them, now to see if OH likes the meat! :)
  • I get grass fed meat from Farmison, the extra cost is worth it and you don't get data mining.

If you do then you've already failed. I don't give you a month before you're back in the supermarkets because they are quite simply cheaper and you'll realise this very very quickly.
I am certain we can Corporate Astroturf on here so that is a very astroturfy statement.
I hate hate hate suppermarkets and they are NOT cheaper, they cost more and i have spent years at my local only being let down time time time and again.:mad::mad::mad:

  • What is the fruit and veg quality like with Farmison?

Their non-organic produce is more expensive than Waitrose organic range, and far above the price of the regular range.

The meat (in the meat boxes) seem favourable in terms of price against Waitrose Organic, and about the same as non-organic free range.

Is the quality of the meat and produce really that much better than the Waitrose organic range?

I have a local market, but there is only one fruit and veg stall and it is basically the same stuff as the supermarkets and slightly more expensive.

There are quite a few butchers and a couple of fishmongers though, but none of them organic. Prices are around the same as the supermarkets although you can select the quantity you need. Don't know if there is any difference in quality though. :(
I haven't looked into it, so I may be wrong. All the same delicious non the less.

ive looked at abel and cole plus riverford websites and both look good.
im begining to become disheartaned with supermarkets. mainly due to the fact thaim tempted to buy more than i need and the marketing to spend more than i can afford and on anything other than what i need.
