ESA Fit notes

After much confusion and conflicting information on whether or not he would be eligible to apply from SPVA and various other agencies, my husband has just submitted the ESA1 form.

We have sent the 2 fit notes that he has had issued since his medical discharge from the forces but the latest note is due to expire in a few days. Do we need to get another fit note from the doctor? Can't seem to find any info anywhere and I can't get through on the phone to ask the question.

The doctor didn't seem to want to issue a fit note last time as he said that my husband is not fit for work and didn't see why he needed one. We did explain it was for ESA but we weren't sure if he could claim or not.

Do we need another fit note and can the doctor refuse to issue one for ESA if he doesn't think my husband should need one for a claim?

Any help woud be greatly appreciated as we are very confused!

You have to keep sending in fit-notes until he has been fully assessed. After approx 13 weeks he will have to complete an ESA 50 form to help determine if he is able to get into one of the groups
