Large electricity bill???
Hi everyone,
Just moved into a one bedroom flat that just uses electricity. Our bill from 20th nov to 14th jan is £366. We are on the standard Npower tariff. Is this abnormally high? We have boiler on a timer for twice a day and are not in during the day apart from that just standard usage of appliances etc. Any suggestion how to get this lower.
Thanks in advance.

Any supplier's standard tariff is usually quite expensive.

Turn the heating off. What do you mean when you say "boiler" yet you are in an electricity only property? What is the usage is kWh on each of the day rates and night rates? Assuming an average of 15p/kWh it's 40kWh per day which isn't too bad.Hi everyone,

:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Unfortunately, an all-electric CH system without the benefit of E7 is an extremely expensive way to heat a property: about 300% more than gas CH and DHW.
All you can do is limit your usage and temps, and try to improve the insulation.
But also get off Standard tariff-that is the most expensive. No free lunch, and no free laptop

As has already been said, standard tariff is the most expensive. Use a website such as uSwitch to compare suppliers and tariffs in your area to see which is best.
Also, do you pay when you receive the bill? You pay a premium for that so it's worth looking to switch to monthly direct debit (if you're not paying that way already).
