This is the Report Holiday Deals board ...

Spain is a large country, perhaps you could narrow down where you are looking at and then do a Google search for more information?

Check out the weather rather than just think it will be warm/hot/beach weather. It may well not be as hot as you think. You've got to go a LONG way for reliable weather before May.

Asking about the whole of Spain is, as the post above says, a bit like asking about holidays in the UK; you can laze outside and swim in September off Eastbourne but you’d need a survival immersion suit off the NE coast of Scotland – or even Northumberland!

But you will find great, cheap places in Spain and can check likely average air and sea temperatures by destination at weather4travel .com As a 1st timer, it’s probably best to stick to the classic popular family destinations, and to get a cheap package unless you object to ‘tourist’ resorts.
We love Mallorca in the Balearics (or Majorca as the packagers call it) because although it has ‘beach, beer n chips’ resorts, it’s also got ‘real’ Spanish towns and attractions. Its like a microcosm of the whole of Spain – with chavvy nightclubs but also family beaches, mountains and sleepy inland towns. Some good public transport options too, such as the little train form Palma in the south over the mountains to Soller and then a tram down to Port Soller in the northwest- less than 2 hours in all from coast to coast!

But as Mallorca is an island, and fairly far north – it won’t be as hot as – say – Malaga and the adjacent resorts of the Costa del Sol in the far south – closer to Africa. Mallorca shows average daytime temeratures of 15-17 degrees averages in March and April compared with Malaga’s 18-19 degrees!

So look at the tips here on http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/ and then check out the dozens of travel websites or the big holiday companies’ own sites; maybe risking a last-minute offer. There are great beaches in many regions, so if temperature is the main objective, stick to the south. The main beach regions, working south to north (hottest to cooler) include the Costa del Sol much beloved of Brits and once dubbed the ‘Costa del Crime’ for its dodgier expats, the less touristic Costa Almeria, the Costa Calida (Murcia), Costa del Azahar (Valencia region), Costa Blanca (Alicante and Benidorm), Costa Dorado (Barcelona, past Sitges to Tarragona), the Balearics (offshore islands of Mallorca, Ibiza) and the costa Brava (north of Barcelona to the French border- and which by my logic will be least warm – Brava means ‘rugged or stormy’, I think!). we love the long, empty beaches of the Costa de la Luz, in the south west, with views of Africa! (Tarifa to Cadiz) but they are very windy- so avoid , unless you fancy kite-surfing.

I dont want a quiet beach. Want somewhere somewhat busy. But for young mature people. Not like ibiza or magaluf.

Got strict budget and in no hurry. But when booking cheapt flights the costs soon add up as you have to add extras like shuttle transport as the Hotels end up being 1 hour or so away. Its quiet ridiculous that the return transport between hotel and airport cost the same if not more than the return flight itself

You can get good weather on the Costa del Sol but there are a lot of cold and wet weeks too. Bit of a gamble. Barcelona and Majorca can get snow!
