I bought onion powder in Adsa - but, couldnt find garlic powder so used garlic granules. I think they are interchangeable! try a different branch of your supermarket - its amazing that what one will stock another wont!

oh sorry hun! Dont worry about using powder vs granules - everyone on the takeaway secret thread says it makes no difference last time I was on there! if you cant find an ingredient either improvise or leave it out!

No harm I improvise or do without all the time :)

I had actually had the kebab made at the weekend, used minced fresh garlic and onion. Just today where I was out found onion powder so added a wee taste

It's tough here getting herbs and spices because peeps are not so very adventurous. Where I live, order steak and chicken and its to die for. Pasta or fish and well let's say I've had better at the Pizza Hut buffet

  • I second the suggestion to try an Asian supermarket. That's where I find all kinds of spices and flavourings that are much cheaper than the normal supermarket and a better selection.

Onion powder is one of those things that I use a lot now that I have it. We have become quite addicted to onion and herb bread these days! And I use it to flavour things like egg mayonnaise as well. Very useful to have a jar of it in the house.

yes honeythief - and I shouldn't admit to this, but, a tiny pinch of onion powder doesnt half improve packet stuffing mix! along with a little more dried sage!
