42L Sensor Bin - £34.99 - Argos

Am in the market for a new bin and just saw this stainless steel one on Argos, reduced from £69.99 to £34.99

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9049756.htm

If you got the email with £5 off £30, makes it £29.99 so even better!

No reviews and can't see anything about whether it needs battery or mains power, but I've reserved one to collect later and will return if no good.

    Battery operated infra-red sensor.

Thanks Middlestitch - do you have one of these as can't see that in the details anywhere? If you do would be great to hear some feedback. Do normal black bags fit?
  • I suspect my lab would think all her birthdays and Christmases had come at once if I bought one of these.

    Looks like a bargain though.

Ha! I have a pug and am hoping he's not going to be tall enough to activate it.

Have wimped out of collecting today due to it being freezing so will go tomorrow instead.

    We had one, great bin!
Unfortunately it got relegated to the garage when the dog figured it out. But I think you will be safe, we have Great Danes!

A friend has one of this type (NOT this make) and it has two problems: normal bags don't fit (at least not well); and the sensor activates even when she is quite a long way away, which is apparently pretty irritating!

Lol @ the dog problem! I was tempted as our bin has suffered a few dents and an annoyingly bent handle... read above comments... we have a walking dustbin of a labrador who would ensure that we never needed to empty this bin!

Love the idea and the price though :)

We have a lab, he's crossbreed so a little taller than an average lab and he would only be able to get stuff if the bin was very full, I don't think he would get his head very far in the bin .... at least not without getting the lid stuck on his head, which would probably put him off for a while!! :rotfl:

OP - many thanks. This is perfect for us. My house has never been tidier as my toddler wants to put every single piece of rubbish in the bin now!! :D
Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???
