Originally when I started my self employment I was in work and had registered for the NI2 exemption. After a few months when I decided that I would do this full time and leave the "day" job I quickly got in touch and was advised to send my NI2 exemption certificate back, which I done in May'11.
HMRC, after months of chasing, have finally sent me a bill for my NI2 from May'11 till now, the bad new is this is running right alongside my self-assessment return. What I'm wondering, as I'm looking to set up a direct debit with HMRC for a monthly payment of Class 2 would they offer the option of a larger payment to catch things up, or will they expect it as a lump sum??
