Has free bus travel been extended?

I'm just getting back to normal after a month in hospital so please excuse me if this is a duplicate posting.
I read some time back that the free bus travel schemes for over 60s were to be extended nationwide in April so that we can use local bus services in any part of the country. Does anyone know whether it has come into force yet. There's no mention of it on my local council website.
Thanks

Started 1 April 06. Usually passes are issued by the local District Council but if there's nothing on their website have a look on the County Council one.
Which council area are you in?0 -
The April 2006 start was just that nationally older and disabled people would get free offpeak travel in their own local area.
The extension to being able to travel anywhere (local or when visiting other areas) in England (note: Wales and Scotland may not be included) doesn't come in until April 2008.0 -
I was told recently that this was being opposed by some councils they are saying it is going to be too costly so it may not be happening, I do not known where my friends got their information from, they are on holiday at the moment so I can't ask them, but I thought it was defineatly going ahead next April0

Gordon Brown promised free bus travel nationally in his 2006 budget but not until 2008.0

Wales already has it's own free bus travel scheme but only for Welsh residents. However, you can travel into England i. Bristol, Hereford and Gloucester).0 -
This is on the theme of cheap travel for OAP's.
We live in Greater Manchester and can travel to Hebden Bridge on our bus passes. Another OAP has told us we can buy a day pass for £1.50 in West Yorkshire that lasts for a day and we can travel all over the region. Is this true?0 -
I live in Scotland we have free bus travel nationwide we can even travel to
