Bought A ticket from gumtree by paypal, what if the item i receive is an empty box?

I finally filed a case that item is not delivered on paypal
I have also informed the seller before I filed the claim saying that if he cant provide me the tracking detail of my item, i'll file a claim.

he never response to my text after asking which paypal address i'm using to send his payment.

And this morning I logged in paypal and see if there's any updates, I found the seller has provided me a tracking no.

It really confuses me, since I am worried about if I get a empty letter, I'm buying a football match ticket, and there's nothing in it?

What could I do?

Thanks

As its tracked, ask the postman if you can inspect the package prior to signing, as you suspect a scam & refuse delivery if it is empty
  • Is it my right to inspect the letter before receiving it?
Does the postman allow me to do so?

    Thanks.
And what's next, after refusing the parcel and I report to paypal?

You can inspect before signing and refuse the letter/packet if it's damaged or suspect it may not be as you think it is.

I had a Special Delivery and the customer wanted to open it before signing. I refused. I checked with my manager at the delivery office and we're not allowed to let customers open signed for packets before signing and we can't be a witness.

    I dont understand!!!
Have you actually paid for the item? (see text bolded above)
I assume you must have otherwise the seller wouldn't send!
Have you tried the tracking number to see if it is genuine?
    What was the sale date?
Why are you worried about getting an empty packet?
Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!

    I dont quite get it.
You said I can inspect before signing but then you said you're not allowed to let customers open signed for packets before signing?

    Yes I did.
after I did the payment, and he asked which paypal address I used to pay for it.

And yes, I tried that no. and it said it was posted on saturday which was what we agreed on.

And why I'm worried about it? Because he never reply and answer my phone, and he just gave the tracking no to paypal after I filed the case.
  • I was under the impression it is illegal to sell football tickets - I mean apart from the actual FA or football club itself...I may be wrong here though?

Yes that's correct. Inspect it to make sure that it's not damaged or been opened. If you suspect it have been tampered with you just refuse to accept it we mark it on the PDA as refused. It then goes back to the office then to back to the sender.
  • Okay, everything is clear now.

the paypal address that I paid to has replied me.
"Hi there,I believe your "son" first contacted me on the 17/1/13 about my pair of air jordan shoes listed on gumtree. He asked me if he could pay through pay-pal and if i could then post them, i agreed. He then said that his 'Mum' did not want him buying shoes anymore, so he wanted me to invoice the amount of £75 to e-mail address: XXX@nhs.net requesting that i did not say anything about the invoice being for Jordan's, "just say tickets". I sent the invoice to XXX@nhs.net and the email address holder declined the request, he texted me saying that this was due to: "my mum didn't have 75 quid in the bank account, i will ask my dad tonight mate". He then asked for my Paypal e-mail address, to give to his "dad" which i assume is you. he texted me saying he payed from this email address: QQQ@gmail.com which is your email address. He then continued to tell me to post to the address: YYYYYYYY. I posted the shoes on the 19/1/13 . he then requested i send him a picture of the receipt to provide proof of postage, i sent a image to the following email address: ZZZ@yahoo.co.uk . I have all the text messages to prove this, text messages were sent from: 0778044CCCC. I also have proof of postage and since i sent out the item by recorded delivery, i cant track and see where it is and it is still processing through Royal Mail.""

    obviously,
the spammer contact me and this guy separately.
And what could I do now?

I'm communicating with this paypal address owner.

And what if I escalate this case, can I get my money back?
