Oskia skincare is good but it is a little pricey - £33 for a cleanser.

REN skincare is also good and a bit more affordable.

Liz Earle C&P can irritate the skin as it contains camphor.
  • Also i have recently switched back to Bare Minerals make up and have just been reading some reviews on their skin care. It all seems good! Might try that.

I'm currently using the Boots Vitamin E range and am finding it quite good. Got the cleanser, moisturiser and hot cloth when they were on 3 for 2.
  • Wilko Skin Therapy, cheap as chips and works brilliantly on my rather sensitive skin. Lotion is nice and light too!

  • I went for Liz Earle in the end - I am so far pleased with my choice!

I like brands like Est!e Lauder and REN.

I have very fussy sensitive combination skin. My less expensive buys that do not feel like compromise are avene ( one of the best cleansers in any price bracket for me) and I recent,y picked up some of this range

And like it a lot. ( I got a day cream, a night cream and an eyecream). I like that it absorbs quickly, smells decent and my skin seems happy.

Atm i cleanse with avene or an Italian cleanser and a clarisonic brush.

I have tried loads of skincare brands and I always come back to estee lauder as it makes my skin lovely.

Family memembers swear by liz earle and have good results however it did not agree with my skin so I am back to estee lauder and I have no intention of trying anything else.

Best thing to do is to go to the counters and ask for a short supply of testers and then you can see the results for yourself.

Wondered whether anyone had any suggestions for me?

Just into my 40s, still have occasional boil-like acne on chin and OK skin elsewhere except a little dry round the eyebrows.

As a cleanser I really don't like ones which I have to wash off with water - makes my skin feel uncomfortably tight. But neither do I like the creamy type lotions, which make my skin feel clogged up.

I currently use the liquid teenage spot water-consistency cleaners e.g. clearasil type at night, and then a clinique orange-smelling thing plus l'oreal hydrafresh moisturiser in the morning (again, it isn't heavy in feel).

I worry that the clearasil is too drying for the rest of the skin these days, but can't locate a cleanser that is of similar water consistency.

    Any thoughts?

I'd think the Clearasil may be drying your skin out and if you're using a wash-off cleanser that makes your skin feel tight it's too harsh for you.
There are Micellar water cleansers out there (Melvita/Etat Pur and a few others do them) which are used in the same way as Clearasil which may be a place to start?
