Hi
Possibly a bit of a daft question but I want to replace my kitchen worktop and redo the wall tiles- do I tile the wall and then fit the worktop up against tiles or fit the worktop and then tile up from that?
Just want to know how to get the best 'seal' at the wall- particularly at the tiled area under the window sill where the sink will be fitted.
Hope this makes sense? I'd be grateful of any advice
Thanks

Fit the worktop first then tile. Make sure your worktop is as level as can be then, if you're happy with the level, use the worktop as a level to fit the first row of tiles.
Don't forget the bead of silicone sealent joining the tiles to the worktops.

Thanks for the speedy reply
one more quick question- so do I just have the silicone seal under first row of tiles or grouting and then silicone seal over that?
Thanks0 -
Fit the worktops.
Fit the tiles and grout them.
Then apply a bead of silicone sealent along the join between the tiles and the worktop. This will ensure that liquids etc spilt on the surface will not run down behind the surface and behind the backs of the units.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
Hi Cb101
As Long As You Seal Properly You Can Do It Both Ways
But I'm Glad I Did It By Tiling First Because We Had To Change
Them And They Were A Better Quality And Thicker So It Would
Of Been More Difficult

yes you can do it either way, but normally the worktop is fitted first.
spend a bit of time getting it really level. it pays off in the end when you come to tile.Get some gorm.0 -
And the worktop stops the tiles from sliding down out of position."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0
