I need office

I purchased a new laptop,when I need to open attachments it keeps advising I need to purchase office of line,is that correct and is £70 a;fair price or are there any alternatives

OpenOffice or LibreOffice are free alternatives that will open MS Office documents.

Libre Office gets my vote.

Just amend the Save As settings to default to Microsoft Office standards to make life easier for yourself.
