Natwest- unable to make a decision

in Credit cards
Hi,
I'm new to the forum and was hoping somebody could shed any light on what's happened.
I applied for a natwest credit card earlier this evening (0% for 13 months and 1% balance transfer fee).
I nearly got to the end of the application, and all seemed to be going fine. They said they could offer me a limit of £5200 (way more than I need, and way more than the advertised limit of £1500). BUT I got to the last page and clicked on the terms and conditions which opened in a new window. At that point an error messaged appeared and I was told to exit the application and start again...which I did.
This time they offered me a limit of (£4800...still way more than I need but lower than before?). I got to the end of the application and it sai they were unable to make an instant decision and would get back to me.
So I guess I'm wondering:
- why couldn't they make an instant decision? Is it because it was 6pm on a Sunday or because I'd just made another 'application' (the first one I had to close down)?
- is it likely I'll be rejected...?
- would that first 'application' impact my credit rating? Is that why the credit limit changed? If so, is there anything I can do as I don't think it was my error?
I bank with natwest and recently paid off a substaintial loan I had with them (15k) three years early. Not sure if either make a difference.
I'd really appreciate any thoughts, at the moment I'm freaking out as I think I've messed up my credit rating with what looks like two applications and that I'll be rejected.
Thanks x

Start with reading the MSE article: Credit Ratings
Most likely the credit search record resulted from the first application affected the second one.0 -
I appreciate your concerns however in situations such as this it may always be worth contacting the lender to see if the first application went through before proceeding with another application.
I best way forward would be to contact them it could one out of hundred & one reasons why they was not able to give you an immediate decision.

In the event the first application was processed you could ask for one of the credit searches to be removed due to the technical issue you experienced.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
