Hi,
Who do I claim back credit protection from when I purchased a new Alfa Romeo in 2002. My agreement was through Fiat Auto Financial Services and the insurance was Pinnacle.
Any help would be appreciated.

I dont think you can as the industry was not regulated before 2005.
What are your reasons for the complaint? How was it miss sold?0 -
I was told it was necessary at the time of taking out the finance. As it was a long time ago I cant really remember the details. However I am pretty sure I was pressurised at the time.0

To be honest it will pretty hard to prove what you are saying.
Also it is before 2005 so the firm providing the ppi would not have been regulated so you could not refer it to the ombudsman for consideration.
Fill out the form and send it in, you never know. I would send it fiat as they sold you the policy but i would not hold your breath.0 -
No harm in trying. Thanks0

Definitely a waste of time and a stamp.
Pre-regulation means they don't even have to consider your "complaint".0 -
Hi Alexsudjum
I purchased a Fiat Punto around 2003 and the finance included a life insurance policy by way of payment protection.
The PPI was unsuitable for my particular circumstances and I contacted Fiat Finance last year to enquire what to do re claiming for missold PPI and was advised to first submit a claim to the car dealership where I purchased the car which I did and needless to say the claim was rejected.
I then referred my 'rejected' claim to FOS who eventually got back to me and explained they may not be able to assist but in fact they wrote to a company called ITC Compliance who are connected to another company which the car dealership now trades under.
ITC Compliance wrote back to me and FOS advising that their connection to the trading company / car dealership post dates my purchase by a number of years and they are thus not responsible for the misselling of PPI and went on to refer me back to the car dealership!
Having left things for a few weeks (in frustration) I have recently compiled a further complaint and sent this to the address below but am not holding my breath for a sucessful outcome.
