Which Supplier Should I Go With For Electric Storage Heaters?

Hi

Get keys to my new flat on 1st Feb,Flat is electric only,has electric storage heaters no gas.

Was wondering which supplier would be the cheapest to go with?

Initially you will have to use the present supplier to the house - you will be on a legally binding 'deemed contract' and they normally will put you on their standard rate Economy 7 tariff - which is the most expensive. You then can start the procedure to switch to another supplier - which takes 6 to 8 weeks.

The cheapest Economy 7 tariff with another supplier depends on where you live and your annual consumption. Obviously you won't know the latter, so will have to estimate.

I think you will find that Scottish Power seem to have the best deals on Economy 7 for most people, but use a comparison website to check.

It is most important to read your meter as soon as you move in and get the letting agent/estate agent to confirm the readings, and give the readings to the present supplier.

P.S. Also read water meter if fitted.

None with storage heaters, we have them and if i could get them ripped out i would . upto £7.00 per day at the moment with a good £4.00 of that spent on the storage heaters and water heating

Once you have registered with the existing supplier, use any comp site to find the cheapest E7 tariff, armed with your estimated annual kWh figures. There is no universal 'cheapest', it depends on region and tariff. If there was, we would all use them.
If you formerly had gas CH and DHW, prepare yourself for much bigger bills. And try to avoid boosting the immersion heater outide the night rate hours, as it's much more expensive.
