Potential buyer asking for codes

Hi,
I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me some advice please.

I'm selling some vouchers on EBay and the auction ends in a few hours.

These vouchers can be used in store or online - if you rub out the silver bit and reveal the codes.

I have had a message from someone asking if I can just email them the voucher codes - if they win- because they want to buy something on line and this would also save them postage fees.

I'm just a bit concerned that there would be no proof of delivery and they could potentially use the codes and then say they didn't work / weren't received.:o

Any ideas as to what I should do?

TIA

Yup, classic set up for an INR - I'd say you'd be happy to do it if they are happy to pay by bank transfer. If they intend to use paypal, then they'll have to wait for them to arrive.

    Thanks for your reply nikki.
The person has over 100 positive feedback but I think I'll just take your advice and tell them delivery only.

I did it recently but still regret it. Keep expecting a chargeback.

Its past the 45 days for paypal though - they could easily have filed a NPB if they were going to.

I based my decision on over a thousand feedback - with many for the same vouchers. But hard times can turn even the most honest of people.

Best to err on caution OP. Were you to simply e-mail the codes, you have no evidence of sending the item or buyer having received it.

Thanks everyone. I can see where the person is coming from but I just can't take the risk. I have sent them a friendly email declining their request.

I know techspec knows this, but for others (and to be clear) chargebacks can happen up to 180 days, longer if you can prove fraud......scary! Disputes are 45 days.

Are voucher codes even eligible for buyer protection?

send them the codes, but explain you will still be posting out the vouchers as per eBay rules
  • Just out of interest, how come a sent email with the codes not count as proof of sending (and delivery)?

I'd agree, but only if they pay by bank transfer.

If they refuse, then send SPECIAL Delivery, which I think is the only way to safely send vouchers.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
