scruff the small cat

Scruff is still not right so we took her to the vets today - nothing obviously wrong from the vets check up, gave her a steroid injection and said let her eat what she wants and hopefully she'll put weight back on.
If no improvement over the next few days she'll have to have blood tests to see if that identifies the problem.
I'm wondering if shes a little stressed as we've had a couple of accidents over the last couple of days - four things may be causing it:-
1/she may be missing our old dog who was put to sleep last week
2/the wind / heavy rain may be keeping her awake at night as she sleeps in the porch and it may be noisy for her
3/dylan her brother is getting quite boisterous and today he was being a bully too her
4/too cold at night in the porch.
We are moving scruff only into the office tonight as that should eliminate the above concerns.
We are also now going to feed her for a short while on fish, chicken, rabbit and yoghurt. The vet also suggested feeding them seperately.
She has perked up abit since her injection.
Has anybody any ideas what else we could try0 -
Scruff didn't make it, she passed away last night.
After persevering we had managed to get her to eat small amounts of food and she even went outside yesterday, I thought we were getting through it but she took a turn for the worse yesterday evening and died shortly after. I'm absolutely gutted.0 -
Oh I am so sorry. Big hugs to you and your family x0

Thanks all.
Dylan is mopping around, it feels like he is looking for her, we did show him the body last night and he tried to wake her up so he knows things aren't right.
Not sure if we should / could adopt another one as Dylan is very young but now not a kitten.
Also after losing 2 pets in a fortnight we are both very upset even though we knew and accepted the old dog had got to the stage where his quality of life was deteoriating rapidly, with Scruff its just been a shock.
OH has taken it very badly and our other dog has started to ignore her food and mope around (shes a collie so they can be a bit tempermental).
I think we need a bit of stability for ourselves and for Dylan and the dog.0 -
Sorry that this has a sad ending- you must be gutted to have lost two pets. At least you did spoil her over the last few weeks so she knew you loved her.
As for getting another cat- if you do decide to, maybe you could see if you could adopt an older kitten/ young cat, there might be less chance of squabbling with Dylan0 -
Spookily I have just looked on our local CPL site and Dylan's mum is available to rehome (may be just a bit too soon for us). Shes about 15 months old so she was very young when she had Dylan, Scruff and 1 other. Just wonder whether Dylan would remember her and vice versa.0
