At the moment i recive £245 through the csa for maintainence for our 2 children.
My ex is now planning to change jobs and work less hours from 29 a week to 15. So his wages will be significantly less than now and will be topped up by income support.
I am worried that instead of the £245 he will only have to pay a flatrate of £5 csa money a week , can that be true at all?
He wont be reciving wtc and his wages will be £395 a month with a wife and 3 kids to look after.
So is it true he will only be liable to pay £5 a week for our 2 kids?

Hi, looking at the calculator, it does suggest that only £5 will be payable. Google csa calculator, u can input weekly wage of non resident parent, how many nighst they have the children and how many other children they are responsible for. It works out the likely payment.
Hope that helps0 -
Is he really planning to do that, or just threatening you with the prospect?
That is a quite a drop in income for himself and his new family to live on. Also he would not be on income support but JSA, with all that entails in terms of looking for work etc and (as far as I know) he would be liable for sanctions if he voluntarily gave up a job to claim benefits.
One other thing - with two adults in the household, when UC comes in from next year, he will have to be looking for 30 hrs a week, instead of the 24 that he is required to look for at the moment.
Is there any possibility that he is winding you up?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Is he planning or is he being forced to due to change of circumstances?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

He has applied for the new job as his wife is disabled and on dla and has got worse with her health.......
It looks like we will be paying for his life of leisure then!
As far as i know they already get CTC,WTC,Housing benefit,council tax benefit,Dla both rates,child benefit........0 -
I know you must feel bitter, and my ex has never been good with payments either, BUT if his wife is so ill as to need him to go part time, then it can't be a barrel of laughs for them can it?Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

The man is a moron. He won't get Income support to start with. If he works 15 hours per week he will only cut off his nose to spite his face. Going on your figures of £395 pm he will only get a further £22.70 per week from the social plus their child tax credits. A couple on jobseekers get to keep the first £10 of earnings before it affects their benefits then the social deduct £1 for £1 after that.At the moment i recive £245 through the csa for maintainence for our 2 children.

Now after reading this, he may well not be the moron I first thought he was. If the wife is getting DLA at either middle or high rate care then he can claim carers allowance and work as long as he doesn't earn over £100 IIRC. Either way if I was you I wouldn't depend on any money from him.He has applied for the new job as his wife is disabled and on dla and has got worse with her health.......

How was that communicated to you? Yes if his wife is very poorly them indeed they might feel they don't have a choice but surely he should feel terrible that in the end it is his kids who will pay for his caring for his wife not very fair on them either. Are the three kids his?0

the man clearly has things going on at home that are behond his control, he has a disabled wife who clearly needs him, so you would rather his wife suffer so you still get you money.
id rather 2 healthy children with no money they a disabled wife any day.
this whole world is not about money its about morels.0 -

Children cant' be fed, clothed and housed on Morals.... The NRP has an obligation first and foremost to his children from both relationships.0
