Egg BT query

Right, I have £17000 positive balance on my egg card, the result of a BT from (to??) First Direct.

I have done an Egg BT for £9000 to my Cahoot account earlier today and have just received an email from egg to say it's been processed. I remember reading on here somewhere that it was a good idea to BT amounts less than 10k to avoid a phone call from egg.

My question is when should I BT the remaining £8000 to avoid any queries from egg. Can I do it now the first has been processed, or should I wait a few days?

Also, will egg care if I do the second BT to the same cahoot account as before or should I send it to my current account?

Any assistance gratefully received.

I have often BT'd more than 10k with no adverse effects. Go for it now. :) Why waste interest? Egg may also wonder why you are leaving a card in credit and that could equally prompt a call..

The phone call is not that scary. Twice I have passed through a £25,000 positive balance through and got the call. They only wanted to confirm that it was me that authorised it, they weren't interested in why.

I got a phone call the other day because I got the account into a positive balance, and was SBT out.

Not scary at all, a very polite lady just checking to see that it was actually me that wanted to transfer the money.

Thanks for your replies. Will do the other BT tomorrow.

So as not to appear a total wimp, my reason for trying to avoid phonecalls was mainly due to doing a similar type stooze exercise in Mr Purplepatch's name and he's getting fed up with taking and making phone calls about things where he is only vaguely aware of the details. He can't take personal calls at work, so we get the situation where they phone in the evenings just as we're sitting down for our dinner! Or perish the thought, just as he's installing himself on the settee for the footie!!!!

Exactly Al Mac, they don't know how lucky they are to have a MSE in the family!

Does anyone know...we got the confirmation email from egg to say the BT has been processed for >£10k BT done late last night in hubby's name, does that mean that he won't get the phone call anyway?

Correct, if it's gone through and you've been notified, that's it. There should be no phone calls now. Just make sure to make the minimum repayments.

I know the feeling of husband sitting panicking thinking what do I say if they
ask me an awkward question and there is "apparently noone else" there in the room with you!

    It's a learning curve!

    Ha, spoke to soon.

I just received the phone call for my own BTs from yesterday - and I had kept them both under 10k, just done two on the same day!

As mentioned, it was just a polite enquiry to make sure that I had authorised them.

Expecting a phone call in respect of hubby's BTs now. What's the likelihood they phone during the Liverpool game tonight

    Thanks for all the advice.
