Whats Thetford & Surrounding Areas Like...

Hi All!

We still haven't found a new house yet - looking into Thetford & round about, seems reasonable value, but don't know what bits to avoid! Some of the villages are OK. it seems.

Heard Barton Mills is up n coming, but a big distribution centre for a paper company is planned, so trying to avoud too much future traffic, might mean this is a no, no!

What do other Moneysavers think of this area, please???

I have heard bad things about it too, though how much is actually fact rather than rumor I don't know. You might want to check the crime figures on the local police website. If you could move closer to Norwich or Cambridge you might find somewhere nicer.

Thetford is an old historic town and there are some beautiful parts including some lovelly old ruins (and I'm not talking about the houses!), however, it has been the 'london overspill' for the last 20/30 years and has some less than desirable estates - like most towns I'm sure.

Of late there has also been a very large influx of portuguese, polish and lithuanian residents due to large industrial areas nearby.

I live some 20 miles away (a lot closer to Norwich) which is a very different area altogether.

Make sure you come and visit to get a feel for the area or do your research on the net.
