Boiler Advice

I've decided to get a new boiler, after 20+ years of service (even though it's still going strong) I think it's time to upgrade to a more economical boiler.

I've been reading through the various threads on here and on other sites, and I think i've come to a decission on which type of boiler to get. I quite like the sound of the Condensing Combi Storage Boiler and the Condensing Combined Primary Storage Unit (CPSU) Combi Boiler. I live in a detached, 3 bed bungalow which has 2 bathrooms and i'm in the process of installing a new shower in one of the bathrooms. This shower should work perfectly on a combi boiler but needs a pump for my current conventional system, so i'm going to get the new combi boiler installed first to save any hassle. My preference would be the CPSU boiler as this means the shower will still work even when other appliances/people are using water in the house.

 Would be grateful if anybody could suggest a decent make/model/rough price of Condensing Combi Storage Boiler or Condensing Combined Primary Storage Unit (CPSU) Combi Boiler. I've tried the Vaillant and Worcester websites but can't find what i'm looking for. I don't mind spending a bit of cash on this as it's got to last.

Good evening: Take a look here http://www.worcester-bosch.co.uk/index.php?fuseaction=product.home&con_id=122177

    and here http://www.vaillant.co.uk/Home/Products/High_efficiency_boilers/Combination/produkt_vaillant/ecoTEC_plus_937.html

for info. Your best bet would to get the names of at least least 3 CORGIS( personal recommendation is best), book them for a free estimate, pick their brains and discuss your options (any CORGI should be willing to do this as does my OH)... or alternatively visit https://www.trustcorgi.com to find an installer near you.
Once you have narrowed down your boiler selection contact plumbers' merchants for prices or check online.

If you go to the Worcester Bosch web site and use their Find An Installer section it will return all of trained and approved WB installers in your area.

We did just that two years ago and our WB installer was superb. He did an excellent job, charged a reasonable fee and was very good to deal with.

mikazza. From what I could see, WB don't do a storage combi and Vaillent only do a 15l store, which as you say are unlikely to be a solid solution.

Another route for you to consider might be to separate the combi and the storage and go for an unvented cylinder or heat store/bank. For what it's worth the former seems to be proven technology but, as the hot water is kept under pressure, has to be serviced annually. I'm still trying to determine if the heat store/bank works well, but the advantage is no annual service or high pressure storage if it does.

Rough prices seem to be ~£1,500 plus labour, so I'd guess you're looking at >£2,000.

Please reply with your experiences if you do go down the separate storage route, as we've just had a WB 40CDi installed and may well have to add a cylinder :D .
