Drill bits Ideal World.

I wondered if anyone had tried the Drill All Drill Bits Set, which is often featured on Ideal World.

The reviews on site either say they are super, or rubbish. They look very impressive on the demonstrations, but then so do lots of the things they sell.
So if you have been using some for a while, I would be interested in your opinion of them, before I decide on whether to spend my money.

At £80 (plus postage possibly) they appear to be very expensive.

I've bought far more drill bits and screwdriver bits etc for a lot less money and they have been fine for my DIY needs.

Robert Dyas, Lidl and Aldi often sell drill bit sets for only a few pounds. They wouldn’t suit a professional or heavy DIY use but will be fine for most DIY work.

You could easily buy all that stuff in the link in similar quality for under £20 and maybe a lot less. I bought a big case with about ten times the amount of bits etc from Aldi a few years ago for about £15. They haven't let me down yet.

Do you really need all those items anyway? You are unlikely to use a lot of it. You could probably buy what you really need in top quality for less.

They usually do cheaper deals at about £40. I'm only really interested in the drill bits, not the other accessories.

I do what would be classed as heavy DIY use and have used cheaper drill bits, but they are rarely much use.

The demos of the Drill All bits are very, very impressive, but I don't want to spend £40 on something that turns out to be useless.

I would suggest you look at Screwfix range. They sell better quality at lower price.

in a day to day use you would probably use only one drill size which is a sis 7mm drill bit. That couples with simole rawlplugs. My plumber uses them on many occasions . eve throuh dot and dab plasterbourd wall. which may require 75mm screws,but always 7mm brown plugs.In other words you don't need much more that a decen 150mm lomg 7mm sds bid. Forget those star styled easy Jamie Oliver type 4 minute sales. they are just crap, in every regards.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody, one of the sets from the Screwfix range looks like it will do exactly what I need. Plus I can try a set of Multipurpose Drills without breaking the bank:

The other thing to bear in mind is that we only use very few of the sizes on a regular basis.

You will be better off buying them individualy as you need them.
