ESA Appeal won, however . . .

Hello, again - the DWP, after being hassled, said that they had not appealed and that I would be put back on IS (Income Support) and that the money (which comes to about £34 a week, give or take) should be backdated. As I was taken off IS in March 2012, it's about eighteen months, and the amount I'm owed should be somewhere around £2,680. However, I have only received a payment of £486.75, which doesn't make any sense to me. Does anyone have any insight into what they're doing now?0

You need to contact them with your calculation of what you are owed. I have no idea what they are doing but I wonder if they have mistakenly calculated back to March 2013 instead of March 2012. Do you have an advocate or support worker who could help you to sort this out?
DI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Thank-you for your response. I have worked out the amount I should have had based on the various rates of IS that were relevant at the time, and subracted the amount I have actually had on ESA from it, and it was around the amount I thought it was. I have a friend who talks to them on my behalf, and the people at the Autism Resource Centre will help me if necessary, I think. Maybe they're paying it back in apparently arbitrary chunks for no obvious reason, which is what they sometimes do :think:0
