The '101 days to change our lives' challenge

Hi everyone.
Welcome debtdummy. Sorry that you feel so low at the moment, but you sound like you're determined to make it better.
Tete en l'air - congratulations on passing your driving test.
I've been working on my challenges mostly, but had a few blips. This getting into a routine thing is hard.
I've probably been managing most things about 80% of the time, but if I don't manage it 100% I think it's not worth it and give up. Perhaps I should add "work on perfectionist tendencies" to my challenge.
Writing this has helped me focus again, so here's hoping.

Hi all.
Will post my update soon but at the moment am suffering with a streaming cold courtesy of a residential trip with the kids i work with. As such have not really had a chance to get back on cracking with my challenges but will post update when i feel a bit better to see how i'm doing.
CONGRATS, CONGRATS, CONGRATS TO TETE EN L'AIR. Knew you could do it and you deserve it for all the hard work you've put in, can't wait until i pass my test and enjoy the freedom!
anyone seems to be working well on their challenges, not long to go now.:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

Hi all,
Hope your first drive to work on your own today went well tete en l'air.
Although i'm still feeling ill am becoming slightly aware of time slipping away from me so have decided to get cracking on with my challenges.
1) Finally pass my driving test (Been learning for almost two years and still rubbish) Not had a driving lesson since beginning of June as instructor has been away then he had to cancel, so feeling a little down about this and that i'm not making much progress.Going away then getting ill has also stopped me being able to go out in my car so my little red baby is just sitting there, a little disheartening but not much i can do. Plan to look at my driving books tonight though and get some study in that way.
2) Make some new friends (am new to the area and don't really know anyone) Still doing quite well through this one, have made two good friends and met another person who was nice but we didn't really click, feel i am beginning to establish a social life and have friends who i can do things with.
3) Tone up this wobbly body of mine. Been incredibly lazy with this one and it has gone to the back burner, just don't feel i have enough time to do it.
4)Learn to swim. Am still loving the classes and have signed up to some more proper classes, unfortunately because i felt so ill i couldn't go to the two i had booked for the weekend, so a little disappointed.
5) De-clutter my house. Done a few bits and bobs around the house and have finally got my digital camera sorted and taken some pics so that i can stick a load of things on ebay. Feel this one is really on the move again. Just got the fun of listing everything now!
6) Get my finances in shape. Not doing too bad with this one and have been making a fair bit through matched betting which i feel i am really getting the hang of now so am pleased to see a nice little increase. Have also looked into opening some better savings accounts so that i get more value for my money.
7) Read a book a month ( have been reading the same book for almost two years now!) Just finished my book of the month so now ready to start on the next one. Only thing is, i got a load of books for my birthday and went to a fete where i got some more so it doesn't look like this book pile is going down in a hurry!:o
All in all, i feel i am plodding on but need to make a super charged effort now.
Welcome debt dummy and good luck with your challenges, i'm sure you'll do very well. congratulations to everyone else who has continued to stick with this challenge and made a good effort towards their goals. :TPlease keep posting because when i'm feeling a little unmotivated it helps keep me going.

Congratulations on passing your driving test Tete en l'Air
36 days left of my challenge, have only really achieved one so far which was moving into a flat with OH and all of my time has been taken up with this lately. I still have time to at least make a start on the others though...
1 - Lose weight, aiming for 1/2 a stone, anything above that will be a welcome bonus, as have over three stone to lose altogether.
Ever since moving, I've been trying to make healthier food choices and not raiding the fridge for midnight snacks each night! I haven't found my scales since moving, but will take my measurements later in the week, perhaps I've lost some inches?
2 - Move out of OH's Mum's house and into our own flat.
Yippee, achieved - although flat is a mess, but have over a week off work, so really going to try and get everything straight, so I can start on my other goals.
3 - Sort out junk at OH's Mum's house before moving into flat, we are NOT taking the clutter with us - throw out, recycle, freecycle or sell on Ebay.
Still need to sort out some stuff at OH's Mum's house which should be done before I'm back at work, then can start listing on Ebay.
4 - Find additional ways to raise money for wedding.
Still saving 50 pounds per month and will put at least half of the money raised from Ebay into the wedding fund.
5 - Research new careers as really unhappy in current job. I think I may not pass the probation period which is up in two months, so also need to be looking for a new short term job.
I did pass the probation period at work, but I'm no happier in the job, it's call centre work and I just find it so soul destroying, I can't really help any of the people that call in, any problems have to be 'referred' to Head Office to be dealt with. I'm still quite interested in a law career - legal executive or conveyancer, but can't afford the study costs at the moment - minimum outlay would be 300 pounds, so will continue to research into other areas as well.

I think my 101 days ends at the end of this month so I need to get cracking :rotfl:
my goals are
1. get a job - Achieved this one but havent got a start date yet
2. Lose 5 lbs and generally get a bit fitter - well since the start of this challenge I have put weight on and got some of it back off so I now need to get 7lbs off
3. Eat more healthily - Achieved, I am on major diet at the moment as I go on holiday in 2 weeks so am eating really well.
4. DD stage school grant - not had any luck on this one yet but am still trying
So far I have achieved 2 out of 4 so will have to work extra hard over the next 2 weeks to bring the other 2 in
Well done everybody on your challenges :hello::cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -

I will post an update when i get the chance, although i have been super busy i have tried to work on my challenges.
The swimming is going well, especially after some lessons i have had. Am really pleased as my dream is to go scuba diving when i go on holiday in October. Looks like i might actually achieve it!
Well done to everyone so far.:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

Hey guys!
The 101 days is up on 8th August so only 8 days left! Would be really good to hear from all the people that joined in at the beginning to see how they have done. Any progress no matter how small is a success!
So these were my targets:
1.Lose 1 stone
I've lost 11 lbs so far, only 3 lbs to go! I don't think I'll lose it in one week, but I'm nearly there. More importantly i've really changed the way I eat, I don't snack as much and eat a lot less food!
2. Exercise
I'm still going to at least one excercise class each week and I'm thinking of joining a gym (using Martin's Pru Health loophole that gets you free gym membership!)
3. Organise flat DONE
All the junk has gone through car boot sale, ebay and charity shops, we've built shelving in the area under the stairs to store everything and the whole place is looking a lot more organised!
4. Decorate bedroom and build wardrobe
Wardrobe is built, but still need to do some painting and get new curtains.
Congrats on passing your driving test Tete en l'Air, thats a huge achievement! :j

Hello everyone! Ooh, well, time will be soon be up for most people! I'd love to know how everyone is getting on. Me not so great...
1) I want to get my overdraft down to £1000.
This has been going really badly. I blame the cost of driving lessons, tests, petrol and bus tickets simultaneously, etc, etc, but now I'm up and running with the car I'm sure its costs will calm down a bit! On the bright side, I'm not spending more than earn so hopefully once I'm earning a bit more it'll be fairly easy to pay off...
2) I want to swim at least twice a week, preferably three times.
Been naughty with this. Been a bit all over the place recently but will try to get back into it this week. I feel bloated and sluggish and I'm sure this is the cause. Gonna make a conscious effort to up my fruit intake as well.
3) I will pass my driving test - DONE!
As I say, it's been one expense after another, not least the insurance, but now I'm up and running it's fab. Having new experiences all the time (multi-storey car parks, city centres, even drove up to a wedding in deepest Co. Durham with no incidents!) so increasing in confidence all the time. Still over the moon about it, it's the thing that would change my life the most.
4) I will get a secure job.
I have an interview for "my" job on Monday. Bit scarier that usual in my opinion as some of the panel are people who I work with at the moment, i'll feel a bit foolish being formal with them. Hopeully stand a decent chance as I've been working on the project for the last 6 months so I already know how it all works.
5) I will cleanse my face every night before bed.
Yikes, I've been bad with this too. As I say, been all over the place the last couple of weeks. Hopefully with a return to routine I can get back on track with this and the swimming.
6) I will re-read all the Harry Potters in time for the release of the final book.
Didn't quite manage this, but have finished them all now and managed to avoid any spoilers and find out what happens in the end for myself. Was such a rush to read them all, I now feel at a bit of a loss for things to do in my spare time, a bit like after exams, when you're so used to revising every spare second and can't quite believe your time's your own again!!
Hope everyone is going well, on the home straight now!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
