And a lot of people said that about Windows 95 and then XP, not to mention the Ribbon in Office. All are still here.
Like it or not it's here to stay, and it would be better to get used to it that try and ignore it...
And I did not say anything about 95 or XP - I thought they worked. This Windows 8 crap does not work - its just that - crap and its stuffed on my new laptop and if I want to be rid of it, I need to pay for Windoze 7 or wipe it and put Linux on it.
The only reason I cling to Windows more is for the Live Mail (access to folders) and Office software. Every other application I use on it is third party - media player, file explorer, browser and others.0 -
There you have then, keep calm and carry on.
It could be than Windows 8 is just ahead of its time, or its a dud.
On the positive side its probably given the guys at Cupertino a good laugh. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Yawn ... same old , same old complaints I see!
Strange how otherwise intelligent and clever people can't put up with a few UI changes ...;);)

There must be a better way of shutting the damn thing down without getting RSI, fraking charm bar!!
Apps? Don't talk to me about apps, 99.9999999999% useless non rezizable one at a timeable bollos, that seem to exist in a parallel universe to the desktop.
Windoze 8, worst £15 spend ever.
Bill Gates should stop trying to save all the Africans from polio and get back behind the wheel at Microsoft, sack Ballmer and get Windows 9 out quick.
Stop your moaning, jeez. You on your period on something?
If you want to switch off metro for good do this
1. Open registry (regedit).
2. Find
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer.
3. Change RPEnabled from 1 to 0.
4. Close registry editor. Done.
No more moaning and complaining. Btw, you can reverse it (from 0 back to 1)0 -
Now im used to it I like it.
Still hate the dual start/desktop type apps so I've set everything to run in desktop mode and just use the start screen as a shortcut.
I've got a section for fun stuff, a section for productivity eg office etc, and a section for computer admin eg task manager/virus scan etc. Nice and clear and straightforward.
Its a learning curve but its very customisable when you know how it works. Much less of a change than dos to windows!0 -
