Spkye Help Please

My big brother in Canada asked if I would join Skype so we could chat.

So I joined downloaded no problems.

He joined but then kept getting told his password was wrong and locked out for 24 hours. He kept emailing me something about having to input a 30 combo of numbers and letters. To get his password.

In the end phoned them and spoke to a Indian call centre, the woman told him there were problems with his laptop. To get the password to work he needed to pay them $180 to fix it. They said is laptop was only working at 56% and other problems.

He has new HP laptop bought last September has the latest Norton on it and HP health check help thing. All these tell him his laptop is working perfectly. He says it is not slow at all.

1) Did he phone a fake site?

2) Can anyone suggest a way to fix this?

Thank you.

    Probably.

Uninstal it. Restore to a point before he installed it. Try again.

Yes, sounds like a fake call centre. Dont pay them.

Easiest way is to uninstall skype, download latest version. Try his old password and login name, if his password still doesn't work then just create a new account
