Help - best card for general spending??

My partner travels abroad regularly for work and needs a credit card for general spending and travel costs (probably max £10K a year). All cash is reimbursed through expenses but it can take a while to get back into the account so there is a possibility of getting charged interest. Can anyone suggest a decent card for this type of spending? I'm not sure whether to go for a general cash back or look at one giving points (we do all our regular shopping at Sainsbury's) or try to keep to a low APR? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I reckon the Halifax Clarity Rewards card. No foreign transaction fees and only 12.9% APR. £5 per month reward for spending £300 or more.

    Otherwise, Nationwide or Postoffice.

Aqua - for spending up to £3.3K p.a. Perfect exchange rate, no fees and 3% cashback (up to £100). Get two cards to make it £6.7K and £200.

If all expenses are reimbursed then any FX surcharge won't matter- you'd be repaid whatever the card issuer charged you in GBP. In which case I would suggest you look at the general rewards cards.

Having said that, the big question is how long it takes to be reimbursed the charges? With a 19.9% APR it'll be equivalent to just over 1.5%/month (compounding though)- so if you're rewards are less than 1.5% cashback you're better getting the lowest APR you can.

Having said that, if slow payback only happens rarely then perhaps it's worth looking at a reward card, in which case Capital One World and Amex Platinum are potentially good candidates. Perhaps the Amex might depend on where your travelling (acceptance will vary more than MasterCard).
