I only use mine for a film or two over the weekends (5-6 hours a week), so that should last me a fair few years before I need a new bulb (unless it blows prematurely, which would be unlucky)

Buying a projector is not only about getting the most lumens out. Many projectors are designed for business and don't handle fast-moving images well (like movies and TV).
The Faroudja DCDi scaler chip makes a big difference as to what the picture will look like.

Replacement bulbs are always expensive for projectors, but if you have an older one then it's often the case that some retailer will get rid of them on clearance at some point over the 3000 hour lifetime. My projector's bulbs are 200 quid, but I've seen them for 50.

That is exactly right, lumens are not everything. This projector is mainly meant for movies and games and it does the job very well. It beat a sony model with 1200 lumens (I think?) on quality and that was nearly £1500:eek: For the price this is a bargain - but like all projectors its best to see one in action before you dismiss it/buy it!

They look to be selling very quickly, technoworld had about 60 - 65 a few days ago. They have 14 left so may be a grab it soon?

    Hi,

Looks like a great deal. I am totally new to projectors. I have been looking at a new LCD Tv. Would this PJ be any good for watching regular Tv and cable. Also what would be required in the way of a screen ? Size, cost and good supplier anyone.

    Thanks

used our projector now, extremely pleased with quality and colours

however, don't expect to use this in bright daylight as it is only 700 lumens.

that said, the money u save on this projector u can afford to buy the
high gain screen which elleviates the problem...... or shut the curtains!!!

100 inch picture for £368 what part of this is'nt a bargain!!

Hi - I have ordered one yesterday as at that price you can't go wrong, especially if it is just for watching movies at the weekend. Does anyone know the best type of screen to get.

    Thanks

Got ours yesterday - I have to say that I was extremely suprised by the quality, it was excellent - even beamed directly onto a cream wall.

Another thing was that it was so easy to use - just plugged it in and it worked - no messing around fiddling to get it in focus or whatever.

    Great deal - thanks OP.

Mine arrived yesterday - plugged it into the back of the dvd player and used my auntie's old Boots projector screen from 1974 - everything worked perfect - took 2 minutes to set up . The neighbours came round and we watched Toy Story then star wars - everyone blown away with picture quality - I may never move from my sofa again.

Would still like a bigger screen if any one knows of any bargains - if not I'll get one from Jessops.

Ah ha - I can finally post something to save people money!! Don't splash out on a screen - build a good solid frame and stretch blackout material across it. Produces a fantastic picture for next to no money.

Plus, you can make it the exact size you want, and if you're like me, create a second frame with a print on to hang over the top when you don't use it. Job done!
