Very very slow PC

Hi guys,

Wonder if you can try and help me. My desk top PC has been running along fine and thursday morning had used it for the kids to watch a dvd. Turned it back on thursday night and it took ages to boot up and then ages to do anything else, like click wait a minute or 2 and then would try and do something(not always successfully though). Anyhow, yesterday i did a system restore which took a while but when it had all gone through all seemed fine. Back up to normal speed. Updated all my virus, adaware,spybot stuff and scanned and all ok. Turned it back on again today and the same very slow problems! It seems to have gone back?

Any ideas?

Glad to know nothing is wrong with the scan, but still very slow?

Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to display Task Manager, click Processes tab and post which process is using most CPU.

Maybe a coincidence, but this thread also reports slow computer and you're both using AVG FREE, so possibly caused by a bad anti-virus definition or program update.

Thanks Chippy, i've uninstalled AVG, downloaded a new version and got it up to date and it seems to be behaving at the minute!
