E: 05/02 Win a trip to the top of the world (effort)

http://www.newscientist.com/energyideas?cmpid=PLC|NSNS|2013-1801-GLOBAL-energyideas|energyideas&utm_medium=PLC&utm_source=NSNS&utm_campaign=energyideas&utm_content=energyideas

New Scientist has teamed up with the global energy company Statoil to provide one lucky winner and a guest the trip of a lifetime. They will cruise around Spitsbergen, one of the closest islands to the North Pole, fly to the giant Troll platform and descend 300 metres below the waves to the sea floor.

To win this trip of a lifetime, we want you to tell us in no more than 100 words which energy technology you think will have the biggest impact on our lives in the near future, and why.
That doesn't just mean energy-generating technologies, but any device or process that could save energy or perhaps trigger a new, world-changing industry or behaviour.

    • The prize is an all expenses paid, 4 day trip to Norway for two people, hosted by a Statoil guide.
    • A full itinerary will be provided by Statoil at least 30 days in advance of the trip. This will include (subject to confirmation) visiting Svalbard, Longyearben, Pyramiden, Bergen a stay on a luxury cruise ship and, subject to availability, will include a helicopter flight and a tour of the Troll gas platform including visiting the seabed, 300 metres below sea level.
    • Exact details of the itinerary will vary depending on external factors such as weather and availability.
    • The winner will be required to complete a Statoil medical form and a medical examination may be required prior to the helicopter flight and trip to the seabed.
    • It is anticipated that the trip will take place during the spring of 2013. Exact dates to be confirmed.
    • The winner will be expected to contribute coverage of their trip in the form of a blog , video diary, report and/or photographs (exact details to be confirmed). New Scientist and Statoil reserve the right to use this footage.
    • Statoil will also take video footage of the trip to be used by New Scientist and Statoil.
  • If I do put in an entry for this I will leave it till much nearer to the closing date.

The entries submitted so far are already being displayed on the website.

I don't think that is a wise move by the organisers as people tend to plagiarise, build up upon, expand the ideas already submitted.

But thank you to lilias for posting the competition.
