2nd hand car where do I stand?

Hi
I bought a 2011 Renault Clio in July last year from a Renault Dealer (It was a horrible experience because of the extreme hard sell of extras from the sales team but thats another story). Within a couple of weeks I had to contact the Service Dept. because the engine light was flashing at times while the car was idleing.
I took it in and they changed spark plugs etc and I was told it was fixed.
Within a few weeks it began happening again. They took it in and told me it was mis-firing but once again they fixed it.
Again after some weeks the problem returned. It can come on, always flashing not on permanently, while I am sat at traffic lights or waiting a while to pull out or when I am programming the Satnav and continues until I start moving.
On the last occasion I asked what action they would take as this was the third time I had had to return and the reply was lets have it in and look at it then we will see. Same info when I picked it up and they were sure it was now resolved.
It has lasted longer this time then a month or so ago the light came on again and is now coming on more frequently and so I will have to contact the Garage again.
I believe they have been repairing it under the original warranty and will do so again but do I have a claim that the car is faulty. I need the car for work (I am a Community Nurse) and it is inconvenient.
Thank you for any advice.

I would have at least thought they would have read error codes being under the origianl manufacturer's warranty.

I'd try a different Renault dealer; ideally do some research on forums etc and see if there's a more trustworthy one about? As it's under the manufacturer's warranty, any authorised Renault service can look at it.

If the flashing is caused by a misfire, it could easily be the coil pack if spark plugs have already been ruled out.
