Car break down repair cover
hi I have car break down cover incl breakdown repair cover with the AA. I haven't used the car for a few weeks. Don't need it for work at the mo. I checked it this morning and it wouldn't start due I believe to a flat battery. Last time I drove it the temp gauge did get quite high, even after putting more coolant in the radiator. (I don't think the radiator is leaking at the coolant was coloured and there was none on the road under the car.)
I don't know what the issue is which is causing the temp gauge to rise.
Does anyone have any experience of using this type of policy? How soon after experiencing an issue are you expected to call? Assuming they will come out to the car and take it to a garage, how do you know which are in the repair network? Also if once it gets to the garage and the fault is not covered by the insurance, are you obliged to get the car fixed at that garage. This may all have a financial cost.
I'm hoping the issue is covered by the policy, but if it isn't am hoping it won't be too expensive to fix.

Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

I think you will have to call the AA out to the "breakdown" and take it from there. The patrol will have some idea of what is or isn't covered and advise you accordingly.
my son has used the cover twice, both claims were borderline wear and tear or failure and both times they were covered. They recovered him to their choice of garage, now using the Halfords branding.
I guess there would be some pressure to let them repair a non covered item and it could be awkward but not impossible to get someone else to fix it. You can choose any VAT registered garage to do the work but as said the AA naturally prefer to use their partners.0
