new boiler quote

Options
Hi
I just moved in to our new house just before Christmas and was planning to change the boiler anyway sometime in the future but our Biasi old one seems to be not up to scratch and is turning itself off with no reason and you have to leave it for a while and start again..
anyway..
Started the quoting system and one guy quoted me just over 1500 pound for Vaillant Ecotec plus 831
including system flush with sentinel inhibitor
- Standard flue
- Salus Digistat
- Installation of the above
and then the day after i was quoted 2500 for woster bosh which I was said is more or less the same as the one above
but he said I would need a number of things to go with it..
question is what do I actually need for a boiler swap? any thermostats room thermostats etc?
and what is the boiler you would recommend for 3 bed house with one bath no shower ?

Start here. The Vaillant must have fallen off the back of a lorry at that price.

Is the quote ex VAT?, or is the fitter a charitable chap?

    Vaillant Boiler £1000 inc VAT.

    http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=ecotec+831&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=9424257634578355065&sa=X&ei=tv76UNL_Nemd0QWauICIDQ&ved=0CD4Q8wIwAg

Flue kit £80-100 depending what is required.

    Flush a few hundred.

    Doesn't leave much for labour.

That aside the Vaillant is a highly rated boiler.

Boiler costs approx £1100 which includes standard flue and clock.

    Salus programmable RFstat costs £30.00

I would imagine you have been quoted for a chemical flush. I cant see any way that the quote you have is for a power flush. Chemical flush will be fine if done correctly. Chemicals for flush and inhibitor about £30.00.

They will need miscelaneous pipe, fittings, condense materials......lets say £100 max.

Thats a very good price and a good boiler too. Personally i would be about £1600 to £1700 but cant say definately without seeing the job obviously.

If he's recommended and you feel happy with him i'd jump at that price.

    DO NOT BUY A BIASI!!
We had a brand new Biasi ActivA Condenser boiler installed over a year ago and i have had to call them out to fix it 3 times.
Its currently on the blink and my wife is 9 months pregnant its freezing and wee have no hot water and heating and they say that they can't fix it it until the end of the week.
    Their customer service is atrocious.
