I'm not sure what it costs to manufacture a pretty cardboard box, duplicate a couple of DVDs to put in the box and send it out with some basic documentation; but I bet it isn't that much.johnnyboyrebel wrote: »I agree with you, getting a downloaded copy of software cannot be compared in price to receiving a disc as clearly it will be much cheaper
I reckon less that £20 as there are several boxed software products for less than that on Amazon and the manufacturing costs won't vary much whether it's a cheap product or something that costs £500.
So while I agree it should be cheaper to supply a download, I'm not sure it will be much cheaper.0 -

A download only piece of software can generally be considerably less. No printed sleeve, no DVD's to press and label, no postage to post to you and, most importantly, quite often no support from the company. Sometimes the cheap download only versions don't include support which in many cases is not needed by the user.0 -
Is there any update on this? I was about the buy Office Professional 2010 from 365professionals as the deal was so good but thought I'd google the site name and managed to find this thread.
The prices have risen a bit since I first saw them but they're still the cheapest around by a long shot!0 -

I'm a MRR and I pay £23 for a Windows 7 license.
I bought a 3 license MS Office 2007 Home and Student for £75 from Amazon a couple of years ago so £33 sounds quite feasible. Remember there'll be no VAT or import duty to pay.0
