Why has my number changed?

For my phone provider, I have just changed from Sky to TalkTalk. Without any consultation, we now have a different phone number. Until people we called told us of ‘our new number’, we did not even know about it and nobody could ring us because the old number did not work.

When we asked for our old number back we were told that it was not possible. We even called Sky to ask if our old number could be restored if we went back to them – they said no!

Could anyone help us and explain how we get our old number back???

Did you ask initially to retain your previous number?

I don't think you can get the old number back - it has to be arranged before doing the move.

If you didn't request a number port when you applied, then you will not be able to get your old number back. TT would have confirmed what you were getting. It sounds like you have maybe done an LLU to LLU transfer and been given a new line provision.
It's nothing to do with Sky now, you must speak to TT (and good luck with that...)
