I started a small gardening round last August, it brings in a small amount of income during school hours whilst my daughter is at school...I have yet to let Hm revenue know....does anyone know the penalty for not letting them know within the 3 month deadline?

I have no idea but its best to tell them straight away. They have always been really helpful when i have called them.

If you started it 3 or 4 months ago (no earlier than 6th April 2012) and it makes enough profit in the 2012-2013 financial year so that you have to pay tax on it, you will have to fill in a self-assement form before 31st Jan 2014. If you do not there will be a penalty of I think £100 a month. But check HMRC site.
