Driveshaft supposedly broke while stationary.

It probably wasn't refitted properly after the clutch job, but there would have been a few clues like the noise coming from the splines clattering off of each other and the ooze of leaking transmission fluid.0

My only thought would be the drive shafts were taken off the gearbox to replace the clutch and were not properly fitted when reattached?
Having had a replacement clutch lasy year, I know for a fact that the driveshafts were removed to gain access to the clutch/gearbox. This resulted in one of the CV boots coming off a couple of weeks later.
I suppoes that a driveshaft could be fitted incorrectly, because they rely on splines being matched up and in some cases split/locking rings being fitted correctly.0 -
Is it broken or has it just fallen off? I had a VW Passat that had a driveshaft held on at the gearbox end by 6 bolts. They were notorious for coming undone on that model of car.
The same happened to me in my dad's Austin 1100 in about 1976
. If the bolts holding the OP's drive shaft were already loose then the engine idling could have been the last straw - and it's a luck escape, could have been a serious incident if you'd been driving at 70 MPH at the time. 0 -
Not much advice to give... but why not look at a spares company to order the bit you need in? Its cheaper than a garage providing you with a brand spanking new one!0

make an model would helpRecently had a new clutch put in my car and then within a week my driveshaft has gone. Could this be down to poor fitting of the clutch as the garage now want £165 to repair it.
When the driveshaft went I was sat outside a mates house with the engine running idle for about 30mins, not in gear. Then all of a sudden a clunk noise comes from the front of the car and it wouldn't move.
Just looking for some advise on whether there may have been a fault with the driveshaft, or poor installation of the clutch could have led to it. supposedly
