Time To Lower VAT? Retail Sales Die Off

Now that manufacturing (eg Nissan) and Services are on their knees, and Retail didn't bail them out like usual, the economy and retail growth in particular needs a shot in the arm - wouldn't it be good if the Cons sanctioned a temporary lowering of VAT? It might offer some hope to struggling small retail businesses and larger employers too. Would help a lot of poorer working families too.

Government overspending. Time to cut welfare bill?0

Alternatively, lets make a massive fire out of fifty pound notes and melt all the snow. That would do more good than chucking it away in some pointless temporary vat reduction.0
